Yamanobe-machi Furusato Museum
The museum was established on the grounds of the former residence of the family of Sato Seigoro, a prosperous merchant who traded in safflowers and ramie during the Edo Period (1603–1868).
The quaint Exhibition Hall located in the residence’s former storehouse displays paintings and writings, dyed items, textiles, and other local materials conveying the history of our predecessors to the people of today, including Ningyo Joruri puppets and benizome quilted silk garments, which have been designated as municipal cultural properties.
